What is Fused Glass, Anyway?

Glass may not be the first thing you will think of when you're talking about 2D art.  Linda Billet jokingly says that she uses so much texture and dimension in her glass work that she can call it two and a half dimensions.  She creates tiles with bubbles and floating dots, stripes and hovering flowers.  When talking to people about her work, she has found that they have a hard time understanding what she does.  So she has created a few stop motion videos to show you some of the processes that she uses.  This mosaic, "annual pineapple," is linked one of the videos.

It's not often that you see someone have so much fun with sheets of stained glass.

.

"annual pineapple" (36 x 20 inches) will be one of her three works that are included in the Bound By F exhibit.

Bound By F - Contemporary Art Exhibit "In the Key of F" by Steven "Fritz" Weiss

Here is another Ode to F a series of Poems being written for and about this exhibition. There will be a public reading followed with an open mike on Saturday June 21st at 2 P.M.

IN THE KEY OF F

In the Key of F

Ever in Falsetto a softened response

Always melodious and smooth as velvet crème

In The Key of F

Descends the baritone responding in vocal timber

Low and cool

Viscous with plenty of reverb.

In the Key of F

A Piccatta of note-play strutting in apparent display

All in color that appears to be descending

Off - scale in sharp reflections

Denoted and almost out of control.

In the Key of F

A sonata belle fresh

In sequence an almost delicate repast of perfectly timed silence

In sequence the pause

In tension the vibrato

As it resonates enveloping in a simple embrace - sounding

At minimum compromised yet essentially complete in and of itself

A French Horn in spoken form - sounding

Implies balance and movement in time - sounding

Tonal sequence followed with a floral infusion - sounding

A multi - keyed fragrance

Informal

Yet Succulent

Still Sublime

In the Key of F
